Self-efficacy is a concept widely described as one of the main factors in dealing with a difficult situation. Self-efficacy is a reflection of self-confidence and competence, additionally, it allows you to take action to take control of behaviour and the environment. The article will be devoted to presenting the definition of self-efficacy as the main term of Bandura’s socio-cognitive theory, sources of self-efficacy, showing its development in the life of an individual, and will present ways to strengthen the sense of personal effectiveness used in the process of resocialisation.Poczucie własnej skuteczności jest pojęciem szeroko opisywanym jako jeden z głównych czynników radzenia sobie z trudną sytuacją. Własna skuteczność jest odzwierciedleniem wiary w siebie, swoje kompetencje oraz umożliwia podejmowanie działań służących przejęciu kontroli nad zachowaniem i otoczeniem. W artykule omówiono definicję poczucia własnej skuteczności jako głównego terminu teorii społeczno-poznawczej Alberta Bandury oraz opisano źródła poczucia własnej skuteczności, ukazując jej rozwój w życiu jednostki. Ponadto scharakteryzowano sposoby wzmacniania poczucia skuteczności osobistej, stosowane w procesie resocjalizacji

Class tournament as an assessment method in physics courses : a pilot study

Testing knowledge is an integral part of a summative assessment at schools. It can be performed in many different ways. In this study we propose assessment of physics knowledge by using a class tournament approach. Prior to a statistical analysis of the results obtained over a tournament organized in one of Polish high schools, all its specifics are discussed at length, including the types of questions assigned, as well as additional self- and peer-evaluation questionnaires, constituting an integral part of the tournament. The impact of the tournament upon student improvement is examined by confronting the results of a post-test with pre-tournament students’ achievements reflected in scores earned in former, tests written by the students in experimental group and their colleagues from control group. We also present some of students’ and teachers’ feedback on the idea of a tournament as a tool of assessment. Both the analysis of the tournament results and the students’ and teachers’ opinions point to at least several benefits of our approach

Unemployment is one of the elements that shape social policy. There are a number of tools to combat this unfavourable phenomenon. At the time of Poland’s accession to the structures of the European Union, the third sector was strengthened by financial support provided by structural funds. Therefore, in the last 15 years one could observe intensified actions aimed at reducing the unemployment rate not only through the state initiatives, but primarily by non-governmental organizations. The aim of the article was to present the phenomenon of unemployment in the Lublin Voivodeship over the years and to emphasize the role of NGOs in the context of combating this aspect of social reality.Bezrobocie jest jednym z elementów kształtujących politykę socjalną. Istnieje szereg narzędzi do walki z tym niekorzystnym zjawiskiem. W momencie akcesji Polski do struktur Unii Europejskiej został wzmocniony trzeci sektor poprzez wsparcie finansowe udzielane w ramach funduszy strukturalnych. W związku z tym w okresie ostatnich 15 lat można zaobserwować wzmożone działania mające na celu zmniejszenie stopy bezrobocia nie tylko poprzez wsparcie udzielane przez aparat państwowy, lecz przede wszystkim przez organizacje pozarządowe. Markov switching in stochastic variance. Bayesian comparison of two simple models

In the paper two particular Markov Switching Stochastic Volatility models (MSSV) are under consideration: one with a switching intercept in the Iog-volatility equation, and the other — with a regime-dependent autoregression parameter. While the former one is fairly common in the literature (as a tool of taking account for regimes of different mean volatility level), the latter has not been paid almost any attention so far. We note the fact, that state-varying mean volatility may arise from switches in the intercept or in the autoregression parameter. Hence, we aim to compare these two models in respect of goodness of fit to the data from the Polish financial market, employing Bayesian techniques of estimation and model comparison. Clear evidence of structural shifts in the volatility pattern is found. Two different regimes of the economy are characterized in terms of the mean volatility level and the variance of volatility
